License Revocation
Using Sentinel RMS, you can allow your customers to revoke licenses. The need to revoke licenses can be driven by the following scenarios:
>Returning unused licenses - Your customers may want to return licenses they had bought earlier but no longer require (downgrade license terms). They might want to exchange surplus licenses for a new product or simply obtain a refund.
>Rehosting licenses from one machine or network to another - A customer may simply want to transfer licenses from one machine to a different one (also known as "rehosting"). Or, a system administrator may want to distribute the revoked licenses to another office or division.
Similarly, there can be other scenarios in which you can make use of the license revocation feature by combining it with profitable marketing schemes.
License Revocation Options Across Deployment Modes
The license revocation workflow described in this chapter applies to On-premises mode only and does not require Sentinel EMS. Using Sentinel EMS, you can perform revocation for all the deployment modes.
The following table provides a summary of how licenses can be revoked or returned for all the deployment modes:
Deployment Mode | Revocation Method | |||
---|---|---|---|---|
